For a few minutes Wednesday evening, people stopped worrying about the Browns QB situation and what they were going to have for dinner, and got captivated by the exploding cauliflower-like cloud that formed in an otherwise clear sky.
For a guy who's been described as having his head in the clouds, I was drawn to it.
The cloud was likely a towering cumuliform cloud developing into a young cumulonimbus — fancy jargon aside, it was a thunderstorm cloud forming due to hot humid air rising creating those cauliflower-shaped towers.
For a short while, everyone was posting their best photos of it, and half of Cleveland turned into an amateur meteorologist.
Three Westsiders activated off injured list 📍 Bay Village

Three local quack-letes landed on the 10-day injured list recently. All three were cleared by the training staff and sent right back out. None of them have agents, and all three are mallards.
The ducks came in oiled, and they ended up at Lake Erie Nature & Science Center in Bay Village. Staff, interns, and volunteers washed the oil out of their feathers by hand, using a procedure that gets the oil off without wrecking the waterproofing that keeps a duck alive on open water.
That building on Wolf Road is the only wildlife rehabilitation facility in Cuyahoga County. Not the only one on the Westside. The only one. And they take animals in at no charge.
What it takes:
20 to 30 minutes of hand-washing per bird, and that's just the oil
Medication, food, fluids, and housing on top of it
10 days of monitoring for behavior, waterproofing, digestion, and overall health

Once they were deemed healthy, all three mallards went back to their original habitat.

Sofia's Kitchen + Bar 📍 Lakewood
New chef, same address, and a name a lot of you already know.
Emily Campion is taking over as executive chef at Sofia's Kitchen + Bar (17625 Detroit Ave.), Doug Trattner reports at Cleveland Scene. She comes over from Birdietown, which means Lakewood hired a Lakewood chef.
She has cooked for Dante Boccuzzi and Jill Vedda, and she joined Brandon Chrostowski of EDWINS on a humanitarian mission to Ukraine. Here's the good part. Before it was Sofia's, 17625 Detroit was Salt, and Vedda spent eight years running that kitchen as co-owner. Campion trained under her, in that room.
"This space has a bit of a tradition of women at the helm," owner Andrew Revy told the Scene, "and Emily actually trained under Jill, so in a way she's coming full circle."
Neighbor tip: Sit at the bar. Jodie and I have spent a few weeknights there, and it's the warmest corner of that building. The fall menu lands mid-September. House favorites, new dishes, daily specials. You don't have to wait for it.

Before it was a museum, Lakewood's Oldest Stone House had a long career.
A Scottish immigrant named John Honam built it out of local sandstone in 1834. That's 55 years before anyone called this place Lakewood. His family lived in it until 1870, and after that the little house on Detroit Ave took whatever work it could get.
