☕ Rocking Crosswalks and Bonded Pairs

Plus another new sushi experience and a historical happy hour

Happy Friday, Westsiders.

The city of Lakewood has a new adopt-a-sewer drain program that allows people to claim a sewer drain as long as they commit to keeping it free of debris and flowing properly. Another perk? You get to name it!

You bet your butt we signed up to adopt Drain “The Rock” Johnson near where we live.

One thing about The Westside Buzz… we’re always free of clutter.

On today’s Buzz:

  • The Capitol Theatre is an anchor for Gordon Square

  • North Ridgeville extends its school year

  • Dozens of different events to make your weekend bloom

Have a great weekend,

Stop Ignoring Your Aches and Pains 📍 Westlake

bridge rehab and performance

Visit Bridge at 26202 Detroit Rd Suite 100A, Westlake

That injury you’ve been working around? It’s not going to get better if you keep pushing.

Maybe it’s the hamstring that never fully calmed down. The shoulder that has gotten tighter over the years. Or the low back issue you stretch out, work around, and hope behaves itself.

What Can You Do?

That is where Bridge Rehab & Performance comes in. I played pain-free golf all last summer. Haven’t been able to say that since the days of printed out MapQuest directions.

Their team works with active adults, runners, golfers, lifters, and former athletes to find the underlying issue before it becomes the thing that truly slows you down.

Using a mix of hands-on treatment like:

  • Dry needling and cupping

  • Targeted corrective exercise

  • Therapeutic massage and more

Bridge helps Westsiders move better, recover smarter, and stay active for the long haul.

🟢 Westside Buzz readers only: 15 people can book a $49 Performance Tune-Up (normally ~$125).

Don’t settle for stiffness, aches, and “just getting older.”

Community Blend

Capitol Theatre Anchors Surroundings 📍 Gordon Square

Capitol Theatre from the 1940s [Credit: Cleveland Historical]

When something big struggles in a neighborhood, everyone feels it. And in Gordon Square, the Capitol Theatre is one of those places.

The 103-year-old theater has had a tough time since the pandemic, and that matters for a lot more than moviegoers. The Capitol has long been one of the anchors that helped turn Gordon Square into the kind of West Side neighborhood people actually want to spend a night in.

Nearby business owners say when places like the Capitol are busy, the whole district benefits. And when they’re not, it is a missed opportunity for everyone else on the block.

The good news: theater leadership is trying new events, community-focused programming, and upgrades to help bring people back through the doors.

Not everyone in the area is struggling. My Cuzin Vintage at 6507 Detroit has become their own destination and just doubled the size of their vintage clothing, sneakers, and streetware store.

Because on the Westside, places like the Capitol are not just businesses — they can help give a neighborhood its pulse and an identity.

Adopt

Bonded Pair of Cats Looking For Home

Radish and Aster are two young men who are looking for their forever home. They are a package deal. Honestly, what would be the point of having just one cat?

Radish is about a year old and loves to play (and is weirdly great with little kids). Aster’s a little more shy, but once he warms up, he turns into a full-time snuggle burrito.

A few things to know:

  • They’re a bonded pair — like, always cuddling, always together

  • Adoption is $200 for both

  • Good with other cats (with proper intros)

  • Healthy, vaccinated, and ready to go

The current owner is willing to work with you on the adoption — you can meet them first, get all their records, and even have a safety net if things ever don’t work out.

They’re in Old Brooklyn but can be brought anywhere in Ohio.

Westside Pour Over

North Ridgeville - Students will kick off summer one day later than planned, with the school year extended to Friday, May 22 after extra calamity days—including the post-spring-break network outage.

North Olmsted - A heartbreaking tragedy turned into a heartwarming show of community in North Olmsted, where hundreds gathered—many in dinosaur costumes—for the second annual Juju’s Dino Dash honoring the life of Julian Myles Wood. (News 5)

🍽️ Business & Restaurant News

Sushi by Bou

Downtown Cleveland has a new omakase spot, and it is bringing a more polished, special-occasion kind of sushi night into the mix.

Sushi By Bou just opened last week inside the Ritz-Carlton, tucked across from Turn Bar & Kitchen on the hotel’s sixth floor. It is a dimly lit, chef-led experience where diners leave the ordering up to the pros and get a steady stream of sushi course by course.

What makes it notable is that it is trying to make omakase feel a little less intimidating. Cleveland already has standout spots like Ginko and Sushi Kuwahata, but Sushi By Bou is positioning itself as a more approachable entry point for people who have wanted to try the experience.

The menu moves from things like salmon roe and scallops to wagyu and eel, so every bite feels a little different, and the space itself has a cool vibe too thanks to a big mural by artist Halim Flowers.

It is another sign that Cleveland’s dining scene keeps getting a little more ambitious.
