Happy Friday, Buzz Nation.

I just heard about a South Korean app called FoodNeverComes that lets you order late-night takeout that never arrives — all the thrill, none of the calories.

Which is funny, because I get that exact experience every time I build the perfect DoorDash order, only to watch a $9 burrito turn into $31 with fees before closing the app in defeat.

Good news: The Buzz always shows up in your inbox. No tip required.

Today, we’re buzzing on:

See you out there!

My shoulder had other ideas 📍 Westlake

Instagram Post

I’m 20 years out of playing golf in college, but I still enjoy playing competitively.

This spring, prepping for tournament season, a nagging shoulder pain showed up and buried my game in the bunker.

Luckily, Kyle and his team at Bridge Rehab & Performance are experts at getting you back to doing the things you love.

What did he do?

Kyle ran me through a battery of tests and figured out the real problem: I was missing mobility and strength in a few specific spots, and a new move I'd been working into my swing was making it worse.

He did some dry needling to wake up my biceps tendon, a little muscle scraping to get blood flowing, then walked me through four exercises to shore up the weak areas. Turns out strength, mobility, and soft tissue all work together.

The result

Ten days of doing the work, and I was back to practicing pain-free. Now we’ve got a great plan going forward to keep getting stronger and more flexible.

Have issues?

Buzz readers can grab a special $49 Tune-Up—because father time is undefeated, but that doesn't mean you have to play in pain.

A Stoic Cat, A Lorain Sunset

One of the most vulnerable things we can do in modern society is let someone else see your Instagram Explore page or your Facebook feed. It's a window straight into your soul.

Mine is roughly 50% golf swing tips and 50% stray cats who somehow find a guy with a cool van and end up touring the country as his new best friend.

Today, we're dealing with the cats.

A cat lost in the purr-suit of wisdom while catching a sunset down at a beach in Lorain.

Funny thing is, he wasn't lost or contemplating his place in the universe. His owner comes down for sunset paddleboarding, and he trails along behind to make sure she doesn't do anything stupid out there. Lifeguard duty. Paid in churu and belly scratches, but committed.

Not lost. Exactly where he's supposed to be.

Now, you could argue he'd be better off with a collar. You could also argue a lot of things. But let's just take this for what it is — a great photo, a very good boy, and hopefully something that makes you smile on a Friday.

Buzz Afternoon Out

Westside Sandwich Wars recap

Last week we wrote about an afternoon outing where we stumbled into a local sandwich shop and I had one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten.

Our favorite thing about writing the Westside Buzz is getting feedback from our amazing community. So I posed a question.

What’s your favorite sandwich shop on the westside and what sandwich do we absolutely have to try?

Here are the results:

  • Sam’s Supper Club - 29% of the vote

  • Joe’s Deli - 27%

  • Herb’n Twine - 15%

  • Local West - 6%

  • Larder - 6%

  • TJ’s Butcher Block, Sweet Pork Wilsons, Tripi, and Little Cloud share the remaining 18%

  • Receiving votes - William Fine Sandwich Show, Black Market Meats, D’Italia, Mitchell’s Tavern

Thank you to all that voted and gave us your favorite sandwiches across these very deserving westside establishments.

It will be our mission to try each one and determine once and for all The Best Sandwich on the Westside!

Here is an adjusted poll in case you didn’t get to vote in last week’s poll:

What is your favorite sandwich shop on the Westside?

After you vote, please nominate a sandwich currently on the menu we should try!

Is Luxury Vinyl Plank Really "Luxury?"

Vinyl flooring exploded during the pandemic, and somewhere along the way it picked up the "luxury" label. Marketing win? Sure. But LVP earns its keep in the right spots.

It's ideal where moisture lives like bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements. It won't rot or stain like wood or laminate, and it's lighter than tile (your back will thank you on those second-floor jobs). The color and style options have come a long way too. Some now look strikingly close to real wood.

A few things to know: quality varies wildly, and price reflects it. Wider planks and textured, wood-look finishes cost more than the flat, linoleum-like stuff. And installation matters—done wrong, you get buckling and peeling. Nothing luxury about that.

Thinking about selling? The right flooring can boost your home's appeal and resale value—and knowing what buyers actually want is Chris’s expertise.

PS: Grey floors with natural wood trim? Officially out.

Chicken Salad Chick Is Coming to Westgate

3038 Westgate Mall Drive, Suite 20, Fairview Park [Photo Credit: PR Newswire]

Okay, chicken salad people — your moment has arrived. Chicken Salad Chick is setting up shop at Westgate Shopping Center, with a targeted opening of August 25th.

Never been? Here's the deal: it's Southern-style chicken salad made from scratch, and there are over a dozen flavors with fun names like Classic Carol, Dixie Chick, and Fancy Nancy. Seemingly more flavors than one needs, but the thousands of raving fans from all around the country beg to differ.

The chain's gotten kind of huge (330-plus locations, 22 states), but honestly we just care that one's finally landing on the westside.

So mark August 25th. We'll be there, probably ordering way too much "to compare flavors," and we'll let you know which one's worth your while.

Westside Pour Over

Downtown - Sony Pictures just dropped $100 million into Cosm, the immersive dome-theater company opening a downtown Cleveland venue early next year—and our version will be the biggest one they've ever built, with a 700+ seat dome, 12K screen, and a rooftop patio overlooking the skyline right across from Rocket Arena.

Brunswick - Donut Land—a 24-hour, family-run shop running since 1972—just celebrated its grand reopening in a building six times bigger than its old home, drawing frenzied crowds of dough-heads, and a mayor who declared "Brunswick loves Donut Land."

Near Westside- A wave of new housing — for-sale townhomes, budget-friendly apartments, and modern single-family homes — is landing across Detroit-Shoreway and Ohio City over the next year, bringing more neighbors and variety to the near westside, though most of it leans market-rate.
